Action Opportunities are advertised through idealist.org. You can also find information about these opportunities outlined below:
Handicraft Workers and Teachers - The YMC is looking for volunteers who can share their ideas and skills related to handcrafting. Our organization is presently making and selling handmade soaps, rugs, and leaf plates. These products are sold and the profit is used to support the underprivileged population that the YMC supports. New ideas and skills are welcome, as are volunteers who can help with our present activities. There are many faucets through which you can help with the YMC. You will find your place and purpose here.
Relief Workers - We need volunteers who can help in the restoration efforts that the YMC is facilitating in damaged areas of Uttrakhand. Whether you are interested in rebuilding infrastructure, restoring farmland, or encouraging the effected peoples, you will be very helpful in this rewarding work.
Organic Farmers - The YMC needs assistance from someone who can help to educate rural areas concerning the most beneficial crops to grow in a limited space. Lower caste peoples often struggle to support their families with the limited and marginal lands available to them. Many villages have lost their orchards and farmland in the recent disaster. Volunteers are welcome to help with the education, motivation, and practical work related to farming in challenging areas, and working to recover their lost lands.
Computer Trainers - We need volunteers who can help in developing and updating the YMC's website, responding to electronic communications, and training local workers to continue this work.
Education and English Speakers - We need volunteers who can help in the education activities and workshops related to our work. The education is related to the various social justice initiatives our organization is spear-heading. We would also love to have English-speakers who can teach English to some of our local participants, and children in remote communities who can benefit from the advantages that speaking English can give them in their future job prospects. New ideas are welcome and there are many faucets through which you can help with the YMC. You will find your place and purpose here.
